This early research began to uncover how oral inflammatory conditions, such as periodontal disease, could have systemic implications (diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and pre-term low birth weight babies). It’s only been as of late that science has begun to look more closely at obesity and its potential influence on oral health.
Utilizing her unique experience as a seasoned educator, clinician and practice coach, Stacy McCauley’s presentations offer a high-energy workshop environment where attendees are able to not only learn the “what” behind a topic but also the “how” of implementation into clinical practice. Attendees will learn why obesity is considered a risk factor for periodontal disease and dental caries infection. Participants will also walk away with strategies for how they can begin to implement lifestyle changes personally to better advocate for health and wellness with their patients.
