Description

Local anesthetics form the backbone of pain control techniques in dentistry. Lidocaine, mepivacaine, prilocaine and bupivacaine have become the mainstays, however the more recent introduction of Articaine has added a new dimension to pain control in dentistry.  

Learning Outcomes  

In this program, Dr. Malamed will:

• Review and describe the clinical differences between the currently available local  anaesthetics.

• Discuss in detail the newest local anaesthetic - Articaine - its clinical profile and  advantages.

• Discuss the efficacy of Articaine HCI when administered by infiltration in the  adult mandible.

• Discuss the question and controversy over lingual nerve paresthesia following  local anesthetic administration with emphasis on Articaine.
