Dr. Richard (Rick) Schwartz graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1977. He was a restorative dentist for 19 years prior to entering endodontic training. During that time he completed a two-year residency in general dentistry, taught restorative dentistry full-time for 8 years, conducted and published dental materials research for 12 years, and practiced part-time. He was the primary author of the first edition of “Fundamentals of Operative Dentistry” published by Quintessence Publishing Co, the largest selling operative textbook in the U.S. He remained one of the cover authors of the 2nd and 3rd editions after entering endodontic training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio,Texas.
Dr. Schwartz has contributed more than 100 articles and abstracts to the dental literature. He lectures regularly in the U. S. to a variety of groups and has lectured in 12 other countries. He is in full-time private practice limited to endodontics in San Antonio, and teaches part-time in graduate endodontics. He has no commercial ties to any of the dental suppliers or manufacturers.
